The Philokalia advises seekers to make God their debtor. But the errant, even the

sincerest, as was the case of the foolish Galatians , have recourse to Divine credit
without worrying about their debts. The result is known.

The main cause of this aberration is the phenomena-hungry spirit of our civilization.

This spirit which is responsible for the marvels of technical progress, is applied – when it
is applied – instinctively as such to supra-sensorial ideas and facts.

But the supra-sensory world is not an indivisible unit, like its material counterpart. On

the contrary, it consists of many planes and heavens. St. Paul tells us of a man who was
                                                     27
carried away to the third heaven . Mohammed says, that, mounted on the mystical
                                                                                                 28
horse, Bouraq, he visited the heavens and conversed with Moses and Jesus . Other
                   accounts are known also.

We must not forget that every Cosmos, is filled with life. Now, if one follows the

lateral octave, parallel to the Great Octave, one may perceive two higher planes above
the one pertaining to organic life on our planet. Starting from the bottom and rising, one

comes across the lateral SI which corresponds to the note FA of the Great Octave, and

to the Mesocosmos; then the lateral DO which corresponds to the SOL of the Great

Octave and to the Deuterocosmos, that of Absolute II, of the Christ.
