the course of our study. The evolution of positive science and the rhythm at which it is

progressing tend to confirm this opinion. We must note also that the preaching of the
Gospel has now become universal. Having spread little by little, it has finally reached all

nations during the course of the twentieth century. There practically no longer exists a

single educated man on this globe who has not heard of Christ and His creation. This

condition being fulfilled, we can be certain now, that, as the Gospel says, we have
                                                                                                     23
reached the end of the old world and that the Son of Man is near, even at the doors .
We shall now see how Jesus described His second Advent, which characterizes the

new Era or the Cycle of the Holy Ghost. Here is a grandiose description of it, handed

down to us by Saint Matthew.
Immediately after the tribulation of those days, shall the sun be darkened, and the

moon shall not give her light, and the stars shall fall from heaven, and the powers of the

                   heavens shall be shaken.

And then shall appear the Son of Man in heaven: and then shall all the tribes of the
earth mourn, and they shall see the Son of Man coming in the clouds of heaven with

                   power and great glory.

And He shall send His angels with a great sound of a trumpet, and they shall gather
                                                                                             24
together His elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other .
